My first blog…

image

I want to begin by introducing myself and explain what I hope to achieve with my blog. This is actually my first blog ever! I was quite nervous about doing this because I was not sure how to begin or what I should say first. Blogging will be a great learning experience for me and hopefully I will have the opportunity to be of help to someone else along this journey. I am excited about writing and growing as a person. If you ever have any comments or questions for me please do not hesitate to do so, this is also something I am really looking forward to!!

My name is Nicole Marie Smith. I am thirty years old, born on January 12, 1986. I was born in Michigan, but grew up in Alabama. I currently live in Pennsylvania with my husband and our three children. We got married on July 17, 2004 which, is also the same year that I graduated from Hayden High School. I am madly in love with my husband. He is exactly what I used to fantasize about as a little girl. He truly is my rock and my best friend. We have been through more together the past thirteen years than some experience in a life time. We had our first child, Kenneth Oliver Smith IV, on May 13, 2005 (this is also my husband’s birthday). He only lived for a few short hours after he was born, but has changed our lives forever. We have an eight year old son (turning nine this coming week) named Mason, a four year old son named Trey, and a seven month old little girl named Aubrey. They are our pride and joy, our entire lives! I am a stay at home mom as of right now. I am only a couple semesters shy of earning my nursing degree, but I have decided to pursue social work instead. I love helping people, I believe it is the true purpose God created my life for. I am a Christian, Jesus is my lord and savior. I strive every day to be who he created me to be and to be a better version of myself. I want to grow closer to God and as a person each and every day. If you do not know Jesus I encourage you to get to know him. I believe you will never feel true fulfillment and peace without him in your life. I know this to be true because I have a personal relationship with God and he is active in my life each and every day! He has done so much in our lives and has performed many miracles in my life. I would be greatful for the opportunity to share my experiences and tell you about Jesus. I am so far from perfect, but I try to do as Christ wants me to. I am not here to pass judgement or condemn anyone no matter what your beliefs are. I am a very understanding and non judgemental person. That is all about me for now, I hope I did not bore you to death. Feel free to look me up on facebook under KennethandNicole Smith III.
There are several different reason I decided to start a blog. I love to write and I find it easier for me to express how Im feeling and to explain myself. I want to become a better christian, mother, and wife each and every day. My greatest hope is that I can help people along this journey. If just one person enjoys my writings and I help them or touch their life in some way I would be happy. I want my site to be personable and entertaining although, it may take me a little while to get it there. Any tips or advice are welcomed and would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading and God bless you.

  1. Really enjoyed your first entry. I have a really good friend who also started a blog. I think you could pick up some ideas by looking through hers. You can also make some money with your blog, and if you’d life help, she could help. Keep being a wonderful person. http://www.sarashanae.com/

  2. You can make money by allowing companies to host ads on your blog (on the side, not effecting your blog itself) and you get paid by how many people (traffic) comes to your page and see the ad. It’s how facebook gets money. 😀 I’m looking forward to more entries from you. Bless you and your sweet little family.

  3. Nice to meet you — and thanks for following my blog!

I’d like to wish you many days of happy blogging, but I’d also like to leave a few suggestions. What you’ve written here is an “About” page — or should be on the “About” page, which is a static page. As a regular blog post this introduction will simply disappear down the line as you post more.

And if I were you I’d take out all those dates. I’m afraid you’re giving enough info that someone could use it for identity theft or other undesirable purposes. Blogging is fun and it’s great to communicate with others of similar interests, but a person does need to be prudent.

When you post, you’re given the option of Categories and Tags: I noticed this post is “Uncategorized”. Which means it goes nowhere. If you type in a category and/or tag, it goes to the Reader for that C/T. For example, if you tagged this “Parenting” and “Children” it would go to those lists and people who follow those interests would see it. (WordPress says we can type in up to 15 C&T before they get huffy about so many.) This is how bloggers increase their traffic. Vise versa, if you go to your Reader and type in the topic, “Parenting” you’ll see every other recent post on this topic.

Hope this helps. All the best.

    1. Okay… I figured out how to do the tags. When I look at my site, I see it says “uncategorized” in between my header and my blog posts. If you know what I am talking about, can you tell me how to change that please? Also, once you have tagged and posted, is it possible to go back into the blog and fix the tags? I had put a few different tags and only one is showing up. Again, sorry to be a bother and thank you so much!!

  4. Most important: let your writing reflect who you are. Write from what you’re passionate about, about everyday life..etc. Let them be a launching pad to encourage and give insight to others. That’s what I appreciate about blogs.

  5. Hi Nicole!

Thanks for the follow! One thing I love about blogging is the connection we make with others all over the world. It bypasses a lot of surface talk and cuts to the heart of things. For instance, your first post! It was personal, relatable, and instantly made me like you! I agree with what Christine above mentioned–that it should be your “About” page or else it will get lost. I think you’re off to a great start. I’m already looking forward to whatever you post next!

    Blessings,

    Karyn

  6. Here’s to a great start to your blogging journey… a lovely way to connect with others, share experiences and keep memories alive. Be honest, but do also be careful about how much personal info you put out there, as Christine rightly said.
Great start! And all the best

  7. Hi Nicole, thank you for following my blog. You have started out quite well. I began my blog in 2014 and I am still learning. The good thing is that you can always revisit your post and edit you work. You have received some great advice from Christine, follow it carefully. You can also read articles which teach you about blogging. I wish you all the best and may God bless you richly.

  8. If any of these people knew you , they would petition for your removal.
I believed that this persona was who you actually were .
I believed that and allowed you into my life and let you destroy it , destroy the relationships I had with my children…
I hope you’re finally sober , hope you’ve actually put the pills down , though I highly doubt it. I should have looked more into your first husband’s ” suicide” instead of just blindly believing your story
